This sterling silver brooches design features two thistle heads surrounded by two thistle leaves giving a wonderful contemporary feel to a classic design.
The thistle, national flower of Scotland, is one of the most recognizable UK wild flowers. It’s famous purple flower is a favourite source of nectar for many species of butterfly. Legend has it that the thistle was instrumental in the defeat of an invading Norse army. When one of the soldiers stepped barefoot onto the spiny stem and let out a yell of pain, the Scots were alerted to imminent attack and succeeded in defeating the invaders.
