Full Product description
Catch all the good vibes with our sterling silver dangly turquoise dream catcher earrings. Not only are dream catchers beautiful, they’re deeply symbolic of protective amulets worn by Native American Tribes.
We love the stories behind dream catchers. Depending on the tribal story you read, they have different meanings. Because it’s important to pay homage to the Native American culture we want to share two dream catcher legends from Native American tribes with you.
The Ojibwe legend says that a Spider Woman named Asibikaashi protected the tribe from evil influences. As the tribe grew, she couldn’t get round to every child at night. Maternal figures of the Ojibwe tribe stepped into help Asibikaashi by hanging dreamcatchers above every child’s bed to trap bad dreams and nightmares.
The Lakota tribe’s legend describes a vision of a spider, Iktomi, who visited their spiritual leader. The spider spun a web around a hoop to demonstrate the good and bad forces at play for the spiritual leader. Iktomi believed that good ideas would get caught in the web while the bad would go right through the hole. The spiritual leader took this idea back to the tribe and they began to use dreamcatchers to filter out the bad dreams and thoughts.
Traditionally a dream catcher is made from natural materials and features one stone type. Our sterling silver dangly Turquoise dream catcher earrings are made from premium recycled sterling silver and genuine Turquoise. Because gifting shouldn’t cost the earth. Or blow the bank.
