Ours epitomises classic-contemporary design. Because this ring can be engraved it's a unique piece that will be reached for daily. What more could you want from a ring? A signet ring is one of oldest types of jewellery. Its name originates from the Latin word 'signum' which means sign. What's more, they were worn by the earliest civilisations. Because a signet ring carried the owner’s personal seal they were worn by leaders, pharaohs, or nobility. For centuries the signet ring has been decorated with a family crest, or initials. As a result, it was used to seal important documents. Above all, a signet ring was deeply personal to the owner. It was considered as unique as a fingerprint. Did you know that a signet ring was often buried with the person they were made for?! In more recent years, they are considered heirloom pieces and are passed down through the family. Also known as “the gentleman’s ring” they have been traditionally worn by men on the pinky finger and were associated with elitism. At Martha Jackson, we love the history of the signet ring, however, we also love the idea of forging new traditions. Which is why we have developed a range for women. We also make beautiful designs affordable for all. So that’s why you’ll find ours priced fairly. Our high style high-value women’s signet rings can be engraved.
